tHe Home of Kigezi,is truly an experience and commitment to people,Culture and Nature!

Our fine friend, @geraldnkusi (left), founder of Home of Kigezi is truly a rising star out of the greater Kigezi. At the heart of Home of Kigezi is an experience and commitment to People, Culture and Nature! Born and bred on the foothills of the magical Virunga Mountains in Kisoro, Nkusi is a true testament of resilience, passion and big dreamer. With an unparalleled knack and fine taste for rustic design and simplicity, Nkusi is a fine collector with an enviable collection of cultural Kigezi and Bufumbira artifacts in his growing cultural museum. Committed to harmonious co-existence with nature, Nkusi practices organic farming and agro ecology, grows medicinal herbs and cares deeply about bees and the entire ecosystem. But all this is driven by what is true to his nature; his commitment to people and communities! His true reward, he says, is when a little child in the community gets inspired by his works or when a farming household takes up his ideas and trainings to become food secure while taking care of the environment. I could go on and on but to sum it up, Nkusi is a true example of a hungry young African who is yearning for change for a better future and who has looked within NOT without to find answers. Our visit yesterday was momentous. If we have been inspired by many, then we have been inspired but also challenged in greater measure by Nkusi. Soon, we will be back to Home of Kigezi to drink herbal teas (and coffeehouse coming up in the near future) and spend lovey nights at the upcoming cottages but also share and learn with the communities. And very importantly #planttrees! #myafricanquest #GoLiveMore #trees4planet
